Grow Bag Gardening

As a Wiccan, connecting with Nature regularly is both a privilege and a responsibility. One of the ways I’ve expanded this connectivity this year is by doing some patio gardening using grow bags.

Grow bags are a wonderful choice for small spaces; they’re extremely affordable, versatile, easy to work with/move, and they can last years. Grow bags also provide a different type of aeration than traditional pots. I started my growing season with three five-gallon bags, and I was so impressed with them that I expanded to six. What can you grow in them? Pretty much anything. In my garden I have pumpkins, rosemary, sage, lemon balm, jalapeños, chamomile, sunflowers, and a variety of wildflowers.

Aside from honoring and connecting with Nature, I have found that gardening aligns me even more strongly with the Wheel of the Year; it allows me to be more hands-on with the seasons/Sabbats, and it is a daily reminder of the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth.

I always say that I’m taking care of my plants. But, in reality, my plants are taking care of me.
